WASHINGTON — Congress has approved free trade agreements with South Korea, Colombia and Panama in quick succession on Wednesday. Critics of the free trade agreements said it showed how Congress was out of touch with Main Street America. “Forced to choose between their voters and their donors, lawmakers don’t hesitate before choosing the latter,” wrote Dana Milbank in an opinion column published in the Washington Post. He also said lawmakers “may be out of step with their constituents. But they’re perfectly aligned with the people who fund their campaigns.”
