(The following story appeared on the Thunder Bay Post website on December 16.)

THUNDER BAY — The United Way of Thunder Bay has received a significant contribution.

Canadian Pacific Railway has donated over $98,000 to the campaign. The money came from several sources. Just under $16,000 was donated by the corporate office, almost $30,000 from Thunder Bay employees, and an impressive $53,000 from railway employees in the Schreiber area.

Schreiber Campaign Co-chair, Brent Morrill, says the United Way’s involvement in Schreiber’s hospital made fundraising easy in the community.

Despite the good news Tuesday, United Way Campaign Chair Elizabeth Dougall said this year’s donations are still not as high as expected. The campaign has barely two weeks left to go, and remains well short of the objective of $1,750,000.
