CALGARY — Canadian Pacific is cleaning all its grain cars in an attempt to protect wildlife.
Spilled grain from hopper cars can lead to wildlife deaths. Animals, including grizzly bears, have been hit by trains while eating grain along railway tracks in national parks.
The railway is spending $125,000 to clean the exterior end sills of 3,000 grain hopper cars, removing debris with brooms and shovels.
