(The Canadian Pacific Railway issued the following news release on October 3.)

CALGARY — Canadian Pacific Railway will increase its published freight tariffs by four per cent, effective Nov. 1, 2003, the railway announced today.

The increase will apply to about 80 per cent of tariffs on freight other than grain. Grain rates are managed under a separate program.

CPR has already increased some published freight tariffs in 2003. Tariffs covered by the current program that were increased by less than four per cent will be subject to an adjustment on Nov. 1 that will bring their increase this year to a total of four per cent.
