OTTAWA — Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd. plans to lease its 93-kilometre Winnipeg Beach Subdivision to Cando Contracting Ltd., which will provide service on the line that connects with the CPR main line at Winnipeg, according to the Globe and Mail.
Cando will also provide haulage services for CPR to the Imperial Oil Ltd. facility at Birds Hill, Man., CPR said, adding the long-term deal is intended to provide continued service on the line despite declining volumes in recent years. Employees affected by the agreement “will be covered by the provisions of their collective agreement,” CPR said. Cando of Brandon, Man., is employee-owned.
