REGINA — A train derailment on Highway 16 near Bredenbury delayed traffic and then forced it to be rerouted for about three hours on Saturday night.

The incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. when the engine of a Canadian Pacific Railway train hauling potash went off the tracks.

No one was injured in the incident. None of the other train cars were derailed.

Traffic was flowing freely on Highway 16 by 11:30 p.m. after being rerouted by RCMP to Highway 15 while crews worked to return the train engine to the tracks.

Bredenbury is about 225 km northeast of Regina.
