TIMBERBROOK, Md. — Residents of Timberbrook, Md., were evacuated Saturday when a freight train carrying phosphoric acid jumped the tracks near the small town.

About 20 cars of the CSX derailed two miles north of North East, Md., about 30 miles southwest of Wilmington, Del., Mike Dixon of the Cecil County Department of Public Safety told CNN. There were no injuries.

Dixon said as a precaution, Timberbrook residents were evacuated and taken to a fire station in Elkton, Md.

The cause of the derailment was under investigation.

Phosphoric acid is mostly used to produce agricultural fertilizers, CNN said. It is also sometimes used for detergent additives, cleaners, insecticide production and cattle feed additives.
