GLENCOE, Pa. — CSX Transportation rail service is expected to resume sometime this morning following derailment of 113 coal cars early Saturday not far from Meyersdale in Somerset County.

“We are in the process of cleaning it up,” said CSX spokesman Robert Sullivan. “Everyone is focused on getting it cleaned up safely.”

The cleanup operation apparently continued without difficulty following the 2:45 a.m. incident with the exception of “weather issues,” said Sullivan.

Two locomotives pulling a freight train reportedly remained upright when the derailment occurred in the area of Wills Creek not far from state Route 160. Two CSX workers operating the train were not injured, Sullivan said.

The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
