CALHOUN, Ala. — Authorities are still trying to determine what caused a freight train to run off the tracks Saturday night. At least 17 cars derailed about 9 p.m. near the Calhoun community in Lowndes County.

According to the sheriff’s department at least one of the cars caught fire in the incident. No one was hurt. CSX officials said cleanup operations likely will take several days to clear all of the cars and repair damaged track.

Its unclear if any of the rail cars were carrying chemicals.
