MARIETTA, Ohio — Officials from CSX say there is nothing to rumors that traffic on the Harmar Street railroad track in Marietta is due to increase.
“We have no projected increase over what we’ve been running,” said Steve Santer of CSX in Parkersburg.
Santer explained the number of trains that run that track daily varies, but the average is four a day. Last year, the maximum number of trips was six a day, three up and three back, he said.
In May 2002, Santer met with city councilmen and concerned citizens from the Harmar area.
“We addressed all the issues at that time that the railroad was able to address,” Santer said. “Not to downplay the complaint, but we haven’t changed our mode of operation since then.”
