BALTIMORE — Authorities expect it will take most of the morning to upright an overturned rail car carrying 33,000 gallons of anhydrous ammonia.

The CSX tanker car derailed about 4 a.m. in the 700 block of Frankfurst Avenue in South Baltimore. No one was injured.

Anhydrous ammonia is used in fertilizers.

Fire department spokesman Kevin Cartwright says the ammonia is not leaking. A hazardous materials team is present at the accident scene. A special crane is being brought there to help upright the tanker.

Frankfurst Avenue is blocked to vehicle traffic near Hanover Street.

There’s no word on the cause of the derailment.
