JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — CSX Corporation announced executive changes at CSX Intermodal and CSX Transportation.
Clarence W. Gooden has been named CSX Transportation’s (CSXT) senior vice president-merchandise service group, and Alan P. Blumenfeld has been named president of CSX Intermodal Inc. (CSXI). Gooden replaces William J. Flynn, who has been named CEO of GeoLogistics Corp., a global freight and logistics company.
The appointments are effective immediately. Gooden and Blumenfeld will be based in Jacksonville, Fla.
“Bill Flynn has been a great contributor to our company, and we wish him the best of success on his return to the international trade arena,” said P. Michael Giftos, CSXT’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer.
“CSX is fortunate to have gifted, experienced, customer-focused executives like Clarence and Alan ready to step up and put their mark on these key areas of our business.”
Michael J. Ward, president of CSX Corp. said, “Clarence and Alan are driven to enhance customer satisfaction. This is the key to achieving CSX’s ambitious growth goals, and I am confident their energy will be recognized in our markets and throughout our organization.”
Formerly president of CSX Intermodal, Gooden will now lead CSXT’s largest commercial group, representing almost half of the company’s revenue. He will oversee the sales and marketing of key commodities, including chemicals, paper and forest products, agricultural products, minerals, food and consumer goods, phosphates and fertilizers and metals. Gooden joined CSX in 1970. He has managed the company’s network and transportation field operations and headed the coal service group before being named president of CSXI in 2001.
Blumenfeld moves from leading CSXT’s e-business function to his new post as president of CSXI. Blumenfeld has extensive experience managing operating businesses and manufacturing facilities, having spent several years with CSXT and CSX Technology and 14 years with General Electric. In those positions, he developed innovative ways to utilize technology and e-commerce to improve business execution and customer satisfaction.
