ORLANDO, Fla. — Train cars loaded with coal heading toward an Orlando Utilities Commission plant derailed Tuesday in south Orange County.

The 41-car train was headed for the Stanton Energy Center about 5 p.m. when more than a dozen cars derailed, said Meg Scheu, a spokeswoman for CSX Corp., the Jacksonville company that operates the train and owns the track. No one was injured.

Seventeen of the cars fell off the track at Boggy Creek Road in the Lake Nona area, and nine spilled coal, said OUC spokesman Grant Heston. The incident will not affect power customers, he said.

Investigators are looking into why the train derailed.
