CRIDERSVILLE, Ohio — The Auglaize County Sheriffs Office confirms that around 6:30 Sunday morning, a train carrying brand new cars derailed just south of Cridersville on the CSX line. A CSX spokesperson says the train was headed from Detroit to Louisville.
18 train cars of the 2 locomotive, 77 car train derailed. Power is reported to be out to 1,200 homes in the city, but is expected to return Sunday afternoon.
EMA is on the scene responding to the smell of gas, but there are no spills reported.
Crews will begin to put the cars back on track this afternoon. No cause has been determined for the derailment.
No one was killed or injured in the accident.
