CINCINNATI — About eight cars of a CSX train derailed Sunday night in Hamilton.
CSX spokesman John Hollingsworth says there were no injuries and no hazardous materials were involved. He says the train had 99 cars and three engines and was carrying general merchandise. But he did not have specific information about the merchandise.
The derailment of the southbound train that originated in Indianapolis and was headed for Cincinnati occurred about eight p-m. Hollingsworth says cleanup could take at least six hours. A CSX crew is at the scene working to clear the derailment.
Police say several railroad crossings in Hamilton were blocked and traffic had to be rerouted.
