RICHMOND, Ky. — A Richmond man who had been sitting on railroad tracks died when he was struck by a CSX train.

Marvin Edward Johnson, 48, a construction worker, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

The engineer and conductor told police they sounded the horn after seeing a man on the tracks north of Four Mile Avenue. The crew was unable to stop the northbound train before it struck him, police said.

”He had his legs between the two rails. He was sitting on a rail and his feet were between the two tracks,” said Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison. ”They blew the whistle and he swung his legs around to the outside of the tracks, but before he could move, the train struck him.”
