CSX and Covington Police are investigating, after a train worker was found in the Jackson River in Covington, Va., on Tuesday evening (February 8).

Covington City Police Chief J.B. Broughman says the Covington Rescue Squad received a call for an injured person in the area of 104 Riverside Street at 7:19 p.m. When rescue crews arrived, they found a man in the water, not far from the riverbank.

That person turned out to be a CSX employee. Lifeguard 10 airlifted the man to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, the region’s only level one trauma center.
