Florida – CSX Transportation announced yesterday that it has settled a rate case with Seminole Electric Cooperative Inc., which filed a motion with the Surface Transportation Board (STB) to dismiss the case.

The parties have “entered into a mutually agreeable transportation contract,” the terms of which are being kept confidential, according to CSXT.

In October 2008, Seminole filed a complaint with the STB challenging CSXT’s proposed rates for continuing to move coal from the Illinois Basin and Appalachia to a generating station near Palatka, Fla. The rates were “unreasonably high and unlawful under federal law,” said officials of the cooperative — which provides electricity to 46 of Florida’s 67 counties — at the time.
