MONTPELIER, Idaho — Crews have reopened a section of the Union Pacific Railroad line just outside Montpelier after 40 rail cars jumped the track Saturday afternoon.

UP spokesman Mark Davis says crews worked through the day and night to repair 840-feet of damaged track yesterday.

The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.

The train was bound from East St. Louis to Seattle and two crew members were on board, although no injuries resulted from the derailment.

Some of the goods in containers aboard the flat cars that went off the tracks were beyond repair.

The containers were bound for Seattle shipyards for delivery to overseas markets.
