CHICAGO — Metra officials say a freight train derailment on Chicago’s West Side is causing delays of about a half-an-hour on the Union Pacific West Line.

Metra spokesman Tom Miller says the derailment this morning (near Kedzie and Carroll Avenues) is affecting all trains on the Geneva-Chicago route.

Miller couldn’t say what caused the derailment or whether there were any injuries in the mishap.

He says crews are working to get the derailed train back on its tracks and that he expects the way to be cleared for Metra trains before the evening rush hour.
