BLOOMDALE, Ohio — A minor train derailment early yesterday snarled rail and highway traffic but caused no injuries or evacuations.

Six cars of a CSX Transportation Corp. train loaded with truck trailers and containers derailed about 1 a.m. between the Nye Road and Turley Road crossings in Wood County’s Perry Township. None of the derailed cars was carrying hazardous materials.

While only one of two main tracks on the line was blocked, trains using the open track had to move slowly and occasionally stop during the accident cleanup, authorities said. The slow or stopped trains often blocked road crossings in the area, including several on State Rt. 18.

The second track reopened late in the day. The derailment’s cause remained under investigation.
