BARSTOW, Calif. — Five box cars and a locomotive from a BNSF freight train derailed near Avenue H on Monday morning, temporarily disrupting rail traffic on one set of tracks.
The railcars ran off the tracks at the company’s classification yard but did not fall on their sides, said BNSF spokeswoman Lena Kent.
She said that the incident is still under investigation but no one was injured from the incident. As of 6:15 p.m. Monday workers were still picking up freight fallen from the box cars, Kent said. She said the incident only affected one set of tracks and the company hopes to resume full operations in the coming hours.
