DETROIT — New Buffalo in western Michigan has a new waterfront train station and new connections with Amtrak.
Starting today, the Wolverine 355 and 354 trains between Detroit and Chicago and the Blue Water 365 and 364 trains between Port Huron and Chicago began stopping in the southwestern Michigan resort city, Amtrak announced.
In addition, there will be a free shuttle from the new train station (at 225 N. Whitaker) to the Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo, starting Nov. 1.
The old train station in New Buffalo has closed, and the Grand Rapids-Chicago Pere Marquette Amtrak service will no longer stop in New Buffalo.
New Buffalo is a popular Lake Michigan “gold coast” destination for tourists.
