CLEVELAND, July 23 — The members of BLET Division 609 in Jefferson City, Mo., are raising funds for Brother Jason Perry, who tragically lost his eight-year-old daughter Cassidy on June 5. Perry, 35, is a Union Pacific locomotive engineer and member of Division 609.
Brother Perry is in the Army reserves and was in Fort Knox, Ky., for military training when the accident happened. The accident involved a hand gun the little girl found in the family’s home.
The members of BLET Division 609 have graciously established a memorial fund for Cassidy to help the family with expenses during this difficult time. The family is struggling with the tragedy and Brother Perry has taken time off work to be with his wife and two sons.

Cassidy was born July 9, 1999, in Jefferson City, the daughter of Jason and Andrea “Dee Dee” Steele Perry.
She attended Cedar Hill Elementary School in Jefferson City and was currently attending Prairie Branch Elementary School in Grain Valley. She was a Mutton Buster in the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association. She loved riding horses, especially her horse, Stardust. She also enjoyed playing “Guitar Hero” and picking flowers.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jefferson City, where she had been active in Music Makers. She performed at the Stained Glass Theatre in Jefferson City. She was an avid artist and enjoyed singing, reading and writing.
She is survived by her parents, Jason and Dee Dee Perry of Grain Valley; two brothers, Andrew and Tristan, both of the home; paternal grandmother Jane Perry of Columbia; paternal grandfather Jerry Perry of Columbia; maternal grandparents Nancy and Les “Sonny” Steele of Port Charlotte, Fla.; paternal great-grandmother Lorene Davis of Columbia; maternal great-grandmother Gladys Steele of Cape Girardeau; uncle Justin Perry and wife Stephanie of Jefferson City; aunt Jennifer Perry of Columbia; uncle Chris Steele and wife Stephanie of Jefferson City; and uncle David Steele of Port Charlotte.
