MARSHALL, Minn. — The U.S. Surface Transportation Board’s Section of Environmental Analysis will hold public information sessions in South Dakota and Minnesota to review treatments for historic structures currently under review for the Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern Railroad’s Powder River Basin expansion project.

A local meeting is planned from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at Shetek Bend, 1045 Craig Ave., Tracy.

The sessions will provide information on the DM&E’s preservation and treatment efforts, including documentation of historic structures — consisting predominantly of bridges and culverts — that will be replaced or modified as a result of the rehabilitation work on the DM&E’s existing route in South Dakota and Minnesota.

The sessions will be in an open-house format with displays describing the process and techniques involved in this effort. Representatives of the STB, as well as DM&E technical experts, will be available to discuss the effort.

Individuals or organizations may arrive anytime during the times indicated in the schedule for each location.

The STB will take comments specifically pertaining to the treatment of historic structures for consideration in preparing a Historic Structures Treatment Plan for the project.
