STURGIS, S.D. — The Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern Railroad will work with landowners and cities as it works to expand and improve its route, the head of the Sioux Fall-based company said.
The rail line is applying for a $2.5 billion federal loan for a three-year coal train project.
Concerns about rail traffic in Pierre and Fort Pierre can be resolved, said Kevin Schieffer, DM&E president.
The DM&E also will work with individual landowners and does not plan to use eminent domain, he said.
