GILLETTE, Wyo. — Two separate train derailments that occurred last weekend in Converse County snarled coal train traffic in northeast Wyoming.
Both derailments occurred in the vicinity of Bill. No injuries were reported in either accident.
“Between those two derailments, we’ve had quite a service disruption in that area,” John Bromley, spokesman for Union Pacific, said Tuesday.
As many as 100 trains a day ship coal from mines in northeast Wyoming’s Powder River Basin.
The cause of the derailments are under investigation, but weather and track conditions are considered potential causes.
