CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Heartland Corridor is one of two rail corridors in West Virginia that emphasizes cargo containers that move by ship, rail and truck. The Heartland Corridor runs from Norfolk, Virginia, to Chicago on Norfolk Southern tracks. When all planned terminals are in operation, the Heartland Corridor will connect southern West Virginia with Norfolk, Roanoke, Virginia, Columbus, Ohio and Chicago, with other routes to Cincinnati and Detroit. Norfolk Southern’s large yard at Bellevue, Ohio, is part of the Heartland Corridor.
