CHICAGO — Amtrak, the Illinois Department of Transportation and various tourism offices are sponsoring Downstate Illinois Day from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday at Chicago’s Union Station.
“With fast and frequent trains, Amtrak is ideal for trips around and across Illinois,” said Tracy Robinson, Amtrak central region marketing director.
The event will feature representatives of 13 cities and counties along three routes to and from Chicago, along with the Illinois Bureau of Tourism and three regional tourism groups.
Ten drawings will be held for free tickets anywhere in downstate Illinois, and Oldies 104.3 WJMK-FM will broadcast live from the event and give away several prizes.
Bloomington-Normal and Pontiac will be represented.
