WASHINGTON, D.C. — In case you missed it over the holiday weekend, Derrick Jackson ran an item speculating that Michael Dukakis would find himself back on Amtrak’s board of directors in an Obama administration.

Also: it’s semi-clear whether Jackson asked the former governor point-blank whether he would serve as Secretary of Transportation if Obama asked him to (he seems to have conducted the conversation in prep for an Albany Times Union op-ed on McCain’s potential transit problems), but he suggests Dukakis is not interested.

Dukakis was appointed to a five-year term on the board in 1998 by President Bill Clinton, and has been a staunch advocate of increased public transportation and high-speed rail-lines.
