PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Most members of Congress rarely take the train. They are willing to subsidize gasoline and airline costs while counting on Amtrak to die for lack of interest. But they are wrong, again. Amtrak has just recorded a significant increase in riders for the 10th time in eleven years. This is especially positive news for those who live in the Northeast Corridor, for a strong Amtrak contributes to better living overall.
