PUEBLO, Colo. — New Mexico’s Transportation Committee has passed the bill to keep alive the Southwest Chief Amtrak route through Southern Colorado. The proposal, which is being carried in the Senate by state Sen. Larry Crowder, R-Alamosa, gained approval on a 5-1 vote of the committee. Now the measure heads to the Legislative Council. If it passes there, it will go to the Appropriations Committee for debate.
