This week, the BLET Education & Training Department hosted a hybrid training workshop for General Chairmen at the National Division headquarters in Independence, Ohio. The class focused on the role and duties of a General Chairman, including topics such as collective bargaining agreements, the Railway Labor Act, Section 6 Notices, and contract negotiations. A significant portion of the class was devoted to writing a Submission for Arbitration, with several participants working on a pending case from their respective properties.

The lead instructors were Vice President Randy Fannon and Director of the Arbitration Department Doug Davidson. Also making presentations were Vice President Pete Semenek, Department Head of the Arbitration Department, and Greg Ross, Director of Communications and Legal Affairs.

National Secretary-Treasurer David Estes, who heads the BLET Education & Training Department, said: “Our General Chairmen are among the most important officers of our Organization and are tasked with an extremely challenging job. Congratulations to the Brothers — many of whom are still relatively new to the position — that took part in this essential training this week.”
