HALIFAX, N.S. — The engineer of a Moncton-bound train was slightly injured early Sunday when someone hurled a large rock through the windshield of the locomotive as it passed near Hatchery Lane in Bedford.

Halifax Regional Police said the incident happened shortly after midnight. The engineer was struck in the arm. Although his injuries were not serious, police said they could have been much worse.
