LONDON — Workers at Arriva Trains Northern plan to strike Wednesday and Thursday, causing widespread disruptions for commuters in northern England, their union said Tuesday.

The walkout by about 300 station and ticket office workers will partly coincide with a planned one-day strike on Thursday by conductors, who are protesting a pay proposal, according to a wire service.

The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport said the two-day protest by station staff is to protest a company restructuring plan.

The conductors also plan to strike on April 5-6 and May 3-4.

A series of train strikes have caused periodic delays and disruptions across Britain in recent months.
