AVON, Ind. — The CSX rail yard was closed more than four hours Thursday after workers noticed ethanol leaking from a tanker car.
The 30,000-gallon car was leaking 2 to 3 gallons a minute from a bottom seam, said Avon Fire Chief Dan Smith.
Although the leak posed no danger to nearby homes and businesses, emergency agencies evacuated CSX workers and blocked entrances to the yard as a precaution.
