KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A senior officer who recently left Kansas City Southern received a year’s salary as severance.

Scott E. Arvidson, Kansas City Southern’s former executive vice president and chief information officer, will receive a total of $336,386, according to a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The severance will be paid in monthly installments over one year.

Arvidson also was executive vice president and chief operating officer of Kansas City Southern Railway, the U.S. subsidiary of the railroad company.

Arvidson left Kansas City Southern suddenly last month. He had been appointed to his positions in October 2007.
