MIAMI, Fla. — Fact-checking website PolitiFact.com recently clarified an outlandish falsehood spread by Florida Governor Rick Scott, who is desperately trying to defend his decision to turn down $2.4 billion in federal money to build a high-speed rail line between Tampa and Orlando.

He claims he rejected the federal money because it would have put Florida taxpayers on the hook for $1 billion in construction costs. However, PolitiFact.com sets the record straight and rates Gov. Scott’s statement as outright false on their “Truth-O-Meter.”
