NEW YORK — A fatal accident at a railroad crossing in Florida will keep the crossing closed for several weeks. The accident happened on Friday, April 10, at the Cypress Creek Road crossing west of I-95 in Fort Lauderdale. An Amtrak Silver Meteor was traveling northbound when it struck a black car. The impact was so severe the black car was thrown into a pair of railroad signal box housings located just off the tracks. The driver of the car was killed.
