NEW YORK — Acela Express service between New York and Boston has been suspended following a tanker truck accident in the Bronx.

Workers are trying to repair Amtrak wires that were damaged when the fuel truck overturned Tuesday afternoon and burst into flames.

The truck driver was killed in the crash, which occurred underneath the Bruckner Expressway.

According to Amtrak’s Web site, regional train service between Boston and Washington was expected to be running Wednesday morning, but with delays.
