WASHINGTON, D.C. — One Amtrak rail car was destroyed and another damaged by fire yesterday at a train maintenance yard in Northeast Washington, the Washington Post reports.
The fire broke out about 4 p.m. in one of the cars at the Amtrak maintenance facility at Ninth and V streets NE, said Alan Etter, spokesman for the D.C. fire department. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
