WASHINGTON — The main CSX line is back open after a fire closed the Benning rail yard in Southeast.
The rail yard is located at Minnesota Avenue and D Street in Southeast.
D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Alan Etter says the main line was closed for about 45 minutes while firefighters battled a fire in a rail car. Etter says it looks like it was mostly debris and rail road ties that were burning.
Access to the rail yard is still closed while fire officials continue to investigate. But trains are able to move again on the main rail line.
