FOREST PARK, Ill. — Forest Park police say no one was injured when a freight train derailed in the western Chicago suburb last night.

Sergeant Steve Zanoni says four southbound Canadian National Railway cars left the tracks about 7:40 p.m. Zanoni says none of the derailed cars — including three petroleum tankers — were damaged.

Some area business were temporarily evacuated as a precaution, but Zanoni says no hazardous or toxic materials were spilled or released.

The cause of the derailment is unknown this morning, but the National Transportation Safety Board is conducting an investigation.
