SARASOTA, Fla. — Five men were killed in a two-vehicle accident on Louisiana Highway 1 in Pointe Coupee Parish.
State police said a utility truck carrying two railroad employees was traveling north between Batchelor and Innis when the driver tried to complete a U-turn about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A Honda Accord, also traveling northbound and carrying the victims, struck the truck.
The victims were identified as Abner J. Moreau, 36, of Simmesport; John G. Bordelon, 35, of Lettsworth; Glenn J. Prothro, 43, of Simmesport; Robert P. Bordelon, 35, of Sulphur; and Michael J. Moreau, 49, of Hamburg.
Moreau was the car’s driver.
The driver of the truck suffered moderate injuries. State police said they expect to arrest him for five counts of negligent homicide. The truck’s passenger was not injured.
The identities of the men in the truck were not released.
