GILLETTE, Wyo. — A railroad track near Gillette reopened today following the derailment of five Burlington Northern Santa Fe cars.

Officials say the cars derailed last night when a train slowly backing up bumped the front of another train sitting behind it.

Three cars on the moving train filled with wood chips derailed, hitting two empty cars on a parallel track. The locomotive and track were slightly damaged, but officials righted the cars and reopened the line at 4:20 a.m.

No hazardous materials were released and there were no injuries. Burlington Northern Santa Fe is investigating.
