CLEVELAND, July 24 — Bill H. Holt, 82, former BLE General Chairman on the M-K-T Railroad, passed away on July 18, 2006.
Brother Holt was a member of BLET Division 177 in Denison, Texas. He joined BLE Division 568 on February 11, 1943 and later transferred to Division 177. He served as the General Chairman for 10 years on the M-K-T from 1975 to his retirement in 1985.
“Brother Holt was a very popular General Chairman in this organization,” BLET National President Don M. Hahs said. “I would like to extend my deepest condolences to his family. He touched the lives of many BLE members during his years of service and we were honored by the contributions that he made.”
Brother Holt was born on June 14, 1924, in Denison, Texas, son of William Grady and Nellie Holt. He married Ruby Rowland.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and served in the India Burma theater.
He is survived by Ruby, his wife of 59 years. He is also survived by three sons Garry Holt and wife, Ann of El Paso, Billy Holt and wife, Sandra of Denison and Bobby Holt and wife, Caryla of Colorado Springs.
Grandchildren surviving are Leslie Holt, Terri Laird and husband, Greg, Beth Holt, Amy Neidert and husband Eric, Todd Holt, Crista Holt, Cayla Holt and Carley Holt. Great-grandchildren surviving are Jake Neidert, Kelly Neidert, Taylor Laird and Landry Laird. He is also survived by brothers, Bob, Jim and Fred Holt. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gladys Harbin and Alice Smith as well as his older brother, Leland.
