CLEVELAND, January 3 — Former BLE International President Robert E. Delaney is at home recovering from a heart attack suffered on December 20.

Brother Delaney, 83, held the BLE’s highest office from August of 1986 to August of 1987. Brother Delaney retired on August 27, 1987, announcing that the BLE’s course was steady and that all of his goals as president had been accomplished.

He began his railroad career as a brakeman on the Chicago & North Western in 1940. He was elected to an international vice-president’s office in 1966 and was re-elected in 1971, 1976 and 1981. After 20 years as a vice-president he was elected International President in 1986.

Brother Delaney has been member of BLE Division 404 (Chicago) since 1946.
