WASHINGTON, D.C. — According to the Journal of Commerce, major U.S. railroads have new tentative agreements with four of the 11 unions needed to avert a potential nationwide strike or lockout in December: the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; Transportation Communications International Union; Brotherhood of Railway Carmen; and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Among the unions still in negotiations are two of the largest: the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen.
