CHICAGO — Metra trains along the North Central Service line to Antioch were delayed Friday morning after a freight train struck a vehicle at a street-level crossing in Lake County, authorities said.
The incident occurred near Belvidere Road and Illinois Highway 83 in Grayslake. A Canadian National freight train was involved in the crash, causing delays along the line between Antioch and downtown Chicago, according to Metra.
Inbound train No. 102 was stopped near the Lake Villa depot, and the following inbound train, No. 104, was being delayed at its departure point in Antioch, Metra said in a statement on its Web site. Four following trains also were being delayed, anywhere from a half hour to an hour.
Train No. 100 was scheduled to run express to Buffalo Grove, then make all stops into Chicago, Metra said.
