WASHINGTON — Seventeen jobs at Erie County`s largest employer are headed overseas. Union members of the Technical Engineers Local 138 confirm that General Electric is laying off seventeen workers.
The jobs provide product design for GE`s locomotives. Officials say the jobs will be outsourced to India within the next sixty days.
Union officials say they hope to help the displaced workers take early retirement or find other work.
